Article I – Formation and Membership

Section 1:        Formation

1.1:      The name of the League shall be the Media Mob Fantasy Football League.

1.2:      For historical purposes, the League shall be recognized as being formed for the 2016 NFL Football Season.

Section 2:        Membership

2.1:      The composition of membership for the League shall be eight to fourteen (8-16) members.

2.2:      Any cost of membership to the League shall be determined each year by a plurality of the League members.  By default, there is no cost to participate in the League.

2.3:      If a membership fee is instated, the deadline for payment of the membership fee is two weeks before the Draft.  If the member fails to tender the payment within three (3) days of this deadline, the League reserves the right to begin contacting individuals outside the League for replacement.  A link to register with the league will be sent only after membership fee has been paid.  Payments are final, no refunds.

2.4:      Ownership of a membership lies in the hands of the League.  A member may not sell or pass on their rights of ownership to anyone.  If a member wishes to leave the League, they shall report, in writing, their decision to the Commissioner, who will in turn alert the other members of the League and begin to contact individuals outside the League in search of a replacement.

Article II – Administration

Section 1:        Commissioner

1.1:      The position of the League Commissioner shall be determined each year by the plurality vote of the League members.  An election should be undertaken as soon as possible.  Until a Commissioner is inaugurated, the Chair of the Panel of Trustees will serve as acting Commissioner.

1.2:      Any candidate for the office of Commissioner must have been a member of the League for at least one (1) NFL season.

1.3:      The Commissioner is entrusted with the day-to-day decisions of the League.  All questions of ambiguity shall be directed to him and his decisions are final.  In matters in which the Commissioner is an involved party or is directly affected by the outcome, the panel of Trustees will resolve the dispute in question with a majority vote.  The Commissioner is responsible for collecting any membership dues at the beginning of the season, and distributing the funds as necessary.  The Commissioner is also responsible but not limited to maintaining and assigning the League Trophy and Awards, historical recording, logistics, and Constitutional oversight.

1.4:      The Commissioner shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, Rigging, Cheating, Fraud, Embezzlement, or other high crimes.  Impeachment proceedings shall begin if 1/4th of the League deems necessary and reports so to the Panel of Trustees, of whom the Chair will be the presiding officer in the impeachment trial.  An impeachment is successful if greater than 3/4ths of the League vote for removal.

 Section  2:       Panel of Trustees

2.1:      The Panel of Trustees shall be composed of three (3) active League members.  Each member shall be elected by a plurality vote by the members of the League.  Their terms shall be one (1) NFL season long.  Terms will be staggered so that each person will hold one (1) Trustee election.  In the event a member of the Panel of Trustees resigns or is impeached, an immediate emergency election shall convene at the earliest possible time.  The senior member of the Panel of Trustees will hold the title of “Chair of the Panel of Trustees”.

2.2:      Any candidate for member of the Panel of Trustees must have been a member of the League for one (1) NFL season.

2.3       The Panel of Trustees is tasked with providing counsel to the Commissioner.  The entire panel may act or rule in place of the Commissioner at the discretion of the Commissioner in cases of his absence or a conflict of interest.

2.4:      A member of the Panel of Trustees shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and conviction of, Treason, Bribery, Rigging, Cheating, Fraud, Embezzlement, or other high crimes.  Impeachment proceedings shall begin if 1/4th of the League deems necessary and reports so to the Chair of the Panel of Trustees, who will be the presiding officer in the impeachment trial.  In the event that the Chair of the Panel of Trustees is the member in question, the Commissioner will act in his place.  An impeachment is successful if greater than 3/4ths of the League vote for removal.

Section 3:        Voting, League Conduct, Removal Procedures

3.1:      For all formal votes in hearings, amendment attempts, and impeachment proceedings, active league members are expected to make their best effort to attend and/or participate. In the event that an active member cannot attend, he is expected to be well versed on the issues and to send his vote in by proxy.

3.2:      All active members of the League are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with that of a Gentleman/Lady. This code of ethics includes, but is not limited to: setting your best possible lineup each week; not dropping players out of anger, frustration, or resentment; not partaking in collusion of any sort.

3.3:      The only time it is permissible to not start a player is if you are currently ahead of your opponent in points, and he has no remaining players for the week.

3.4:      A violation of this code of ethics can result in either docking of points, not to exceed 25 points, or in severe or repetitive cases, removal from the League. Any active member can report a violation to the Panel of Trustees, who will investigate and discuss the case, making sure to hear from all affected parties and will then rule on the verdict. In the event that a member of the Panel of Trustees is an involved party, the Commissioner will fill in for his absence. In the cases in which a fine is the verdict, the decision of the Panel of Trustees is final. If the Panel of Trustees believes that removal is the appropriate recourse, then a full hearing of all Owners will take place, in which the Chair of the Panel of Trustees will be the presiding officer. In the event that the Chair of the Panel of Trustees is an involved party, the Commissioner will fill in for his absence. The accused League member is entitled to either represent himself or seek counsel from any other active League member. Removal requires a vote for removal from 2/3rds of the active League members.

Article III – Teams and Rosters

Section 1:        Teams

1.1:      The League is organized as follows: the eight or sixteen (8 or 16) teams will be equally divided into one, two, or three (1, 2, or 3) conferences.

1.2:      Divisions will be determined by random drawing each season, before the season’s draft. The Commissioner will execute the drawing in the presence of the witness of one or more of the Trustees.

1.3:      Team names must be approved by the Commissioner or the Panel of Trustees.

Section 2:        Rosters

2.1       A team’s active roster consists of nine (9) starters, comprised of:
  • 1 Quarterback
  • 2 Running Backs
  • 2 Wide Receivers
  • 1 Tight End
  • 1 FLEX (WR/RB/TE)
  • 1 Kicker
  • 1 Team Defense/Special Teams
  • 5 Bench players

Article IV – Drafting

Section 1:        Drafting

1.1:      The style of Draft will be Live Standard (Snake) Draft.  Live Standard Draft is defined as:
  • Every franchise selects one player per round until their roster is full.
  • The draft order reverses each round – the team that starts the first round will end the second and the team that ends the first round will start the second.
  • It's not possible to pick part of your draft live and auto-pick the remaining portion. If a manager leaves the live draft, the rest of their team will be selected using auto-pick.

1.2:      The Draft shall commence on a date and time decided by the Commissioner and ratified by a 3/4 vote of the active League members. The Draft shall never be administered on a day further than fourteen (14) days from the start of the NFL opening game. The date of Draft must be ratified at least seventy-two (72) hours prior to the start of the Draft. In extenuating circumstances this clause may be disregarded by a unanimous vote of the active League members.

1.3:      The Draft will always be conducted online using ClickyDrafts online Draft software.  A league member may call a motion to move to a different service sixty (60) days prior to the start of the Draft.  A vote to move is successful if greater than 3/4ths of the League vote to move.

Article V – Season Schedule, Matchups, Playoffs

Section 1:        Season Schedule

1.1:      The first week of the regular season of the League corresponds with Week 1 of the NFL season. The League’s regular season ends after Week 13 of the NFL season.

1.2:      The League Playoffs start with Week 14 of the NFL season. The League Champion is determined after the results of Week 16 of the NFL season.

Section 2:        Matchups

2.1:      During the regular season, each team will play matchups based on footballguys.com custom schedule based on amount of players/divisions.

Section 3:        Playoffs

3.1:      The number of teams that will make the League Playoffs depends on how many teams are in the League.  If there are Divisions, the top team in each of the Divisions will be recognized as the Division Winners and receive an automatic playoff bid.  The remaining four (4) spots for four (4) Divisions or one (1) spot for three Divisions in the playoffs will be reserved for the Wildcard team(s).  Seeds based on overall record.

3.2:      Wildcard teams are determined to be the highest-ranked teams, according to the League Rankings, that did not win their Division.

Article VI – Transactions

Section 1:        Trades

1.1:      All requests for Trades are sent to the Commissioner for approval.  The Commissioner will review the trade and either approve or deny (based on Sec 1.2.1) the trade within 24 hours.    The Commissioner is not responsible for approving trades for games within 24 hours of playing time of the players in the transaction.  All trades approved by the Commissioner process immediately.  Any Trade Veto Requests by other members are to be made directly to the Commissioner within 48 hours of the trade agreement and will be for reviewed by the Commissioner and the Panel of Trustees.

1.2:      A trade being one-sided is NOT grounds for a veto. Understanding that attempting to gain the upper hand, making a risky and/or gutsy decision, and possibly even sneakily gaining an advantage through a trade at the expense of the other party constitutes part of the game, vetoes are intended when a Member believes the trade in question causes unnecessary harm to the League and can’t be defended by the involved parties, or the circumstances of the trade are specifically listed in the Constitution as a cause for a veto. Ideally, vetoes should be rare.

1.2.1:  For the purposes of vetoing trades and enforcing League discipline and competitiveness, collusion is defined by any and all of the following four characteristics, but is not limited to them: making trades that clearly only benefit one team, making trades for future considerations or preferential treatment, making trades with the intent or agreement to a future trade (whether involving the same players or not), and  “sharing” players to cover bye weeks or injury. As a general principle, collusion is the practice of two teams working together against the rest of the League.

1.3:      The trade deadline shall correspond with the rules set forth by Yahoo.

1.4:      In the event a trade is agreed upon between parties and one of the parties changes their roster causing Yahoo to cancel the trade the Commissioner will manually force the agreed upon trade.

Section 2:        Player Acquisition

2.1:      The League operates on the Waiver System set by Yahoo.

2.2:      Initial waiver priority is determined by the reverse order of the draft.

2.3:      Waiver claims are processed in waiver priority order. Each successful claim moves a manager to the end of the waiver priority list. The list never resets. The priority list changes immediately after a claim is processed. If you view the list after a claim has been completed, the team that successfully claimed the player would have already been moved to the bottom of the list.

2.4:      The Waiver Period shall be set at two (2) days and will process on Tuesday of each week.

2.5:      Player lineup changes lock on a per-player basis, set for each player’s scheduled gametime.

Article VII – Scoring, Winning, Awards

Section 1:        Scoring

1.1:      The Scoring Table is as follows:

Picture
Section 2:        Winning

2.1:      The winner of each head-to-head matchup is determined by who has the most points after each Owner’s players have played.

2.1.1:   Official player scoring, live data corrections, and league standings are normally updated by 8:00 AM PT, 11:00 AM ET the morning after the game(s).

2.1.2:      The NFL reviews the stats for each game after its completion and works with Yahoo’s data provider to send Yahoo the official NFL Stat Corrections. Stat corrections are determined once a game is over and are issued by the NFL on a rolling basis, meaning that they can be provided to Yahoo Sports at any time during the week.  All player statistics, rankings, and scorings will be updated by Yahoo Sports once Yahoo receives those details from the NFL.  Once the first game of the following Fantasy week kicks off, all matchups are considered final, and no further changes or stat corrections will be made for the previous week's games.

Section 3:        Awards
3.1:      Awards to be given at the conclusion of the season shall be determined each year by a plurality of the League members.

3.2:      The agreed upon Awards will be added to the Awards Addendum upon completion of the member vote outlined in Article I Sec 2.3.

Article VIII – The Champion and Le Pew

Section 1:        Determination

1.1:      The Owner whose team wins the League SuperBowl will be crowned the League Champion for the year.  The loser of the Le Pew Bowl will be crowned the League Le Pew for the year.

1.2:      In the event of a computer glitch, problems with the execution of NFL Weeks 16 and 17, or any other circumstances outside of the control of the League that inhibits the ability to make the results of the SuperBowl immediately obvious, the Commissioner and Panel of Trustees will confer and vote to either elect a Champion for the year or decree that the year will have no Champion.

Section 2:        Rights and Responsibilities

2.1:      After the Commissioner has the Champion’s name engraved on the League Trophy, he will mail or deliver it to the Champion to keep and display for the following year. The Champion will also be awarded a Championship Certificate, which the Champion can keep permanently.

2.1.1:   It is the responsibility of the Champion/Le Pew to care for the wellbeing of their respective Trophy. Any damages or replacement fees will be the responsibility of the Champion/Le Pew. In the event that the Champion/Le Pew does not return to the League for the next year, the Champion/Le Pew is bound by League Rules to return the Trophy to the Commissioner.

2.1.2:   It is the responsibility of the Champion/Le Pew to mail or deliver the Trophy back to the Commissioner the week before League Playoffs begin during the following season. This allows the Commissioner to inspect the Trophy for damage and have the next Champion’s name engraved on it.

Article IX – Amendments

Section 1:        Amendments

1.1:      In order to amend the League Constitution in any way, shape, or form, a 3/4ths vote is necessary.  The amendment must be in written form and distributed to all members of the League prior to any vote.

1.2:      The League Constitution may NOT be amended while a season is in Session (from Draft to crowning of a new Champion).  All proposed rule changes and Amendments may only be ratified in between seasons.  Should any rule disputes arise over the course of a season, it is the responsibility of the Commissioner and the Panel of Trustees to make a decision based on the best possible interpretation of the rules listed in the Constitution.  After the season is over, the Constitution can be amended to make the rules clearer.

Article X – Ratification

Section 1:        Ratification

1.1:      The ratification of eight (8) founding members of the League shall be sufficient for the Establishment of this Constitution.

Brent Oravits – Founder, Commissioner 2016-17                                                                          Barrett Gamez – Member
